My cousins had their sisters
My friends had theirs, too
But I was forced to make
My walk all alone
But I realized later that
My solitary walk had made me strong.
I was able to reach heights
That only eagles had known
And too, because I was forced to
Tread a lonesome path
I learned to be happy as I
Sang my solitary song
Because I learned that I never
Actually walked alone.
