I’d Rather...

What is the opposite of rose tinted glasses? Negativism or cynicism could be the opposite.

And why does the world hate it when a Christian continually has a smile on their face? Could it be that the old adage that misery loves company is in play here?

And why would a Christian just keep a smile on their face anyway, as if they have some miraculous secret that the rest of the world doesn’t?

I submit that they do and I will be discussing that thought in the prose part of my upcoming book, Excelsior.

Every Day I Pray

Every day

Every day I pray

For you

For me

And for our country 

Because I know how powerful

Our GOD is and

What HE can do

For my past attests to

The lovingkindness, justice,

And righteousness that

Is in HIS powerful hand!

There Comes a Time

 There comes a time when some unreached goals or desires are just that, and for the most part,

will remain so. There comes a time when other goals are made secondary or left behind and 

getting one’s house in order becomes the chief objective. Sometimes this comes about because 

of a new or rediscovered faith in GOD. At other times, catastrophic things such as the current 

pandemic cause people to reprioritize their thinking about what is most important.

New Faith, Rediscovered Faith, or Pandemic

It ought to make you think...

If you have been harboring hatred 

In your heart toward your fellowman 

That change of heart may have

You thinking that you need to mend

Your ways while you can.

I could have taken this poem on

For a few verses more

But, there is no need

Because I have given you some

Fodder for the teeth of your mind

To chew upon, as this morning’s words 

Cause you to take heed.©

As Best I Can

 I’m living my life as best I can

As I day by day write and speak

Encouragement to my fellowman

Trusting in YOU, FATHER for the 

Carrying forth of YOUR plan 

As my faith is built into a

Mustard tree that sits atop a mountain 

For all who will to shelter and rest

Under its span.©️

The Layers of an Onion

 As I live and breathe

I know

That GOD will provide

And I know that “all things

Work together for good

Because I love the LORD.”(Romans 8:28)

 I have talked to you about something similar to this before and but I felt the need to reiterate this morning. There is so much negativity everywhere we turn today, what with the cyber criminal activity with reference to gas shortage, food shortage, hate mongers, or what-have-you. So, I just wanted to remind us all that we walk by faith and not by sight. That means that even when your world stops making sense and most every story on the news seems to be a doom and gloom type, don’t despair. I want to remind you that we have the Most Powerful GOD there is as Our FATHER. 

So, don’t you give up

Don’t you dare

Because GOD has shown us through

The gift of JESUS that about you and me

HE does care.

America, trouble can be likened to an onion. It seems sometimes to peel off layer after layer, doesn’t it? Making you cry all the while, right? But, when heat is applied to it, the tears go away and we gobble it up stronger for having stood the stench and the tears. 

I like to think that GOD supplies the heat to the onion of trouble and makes it work out for our good! Does it get tough sometimes? Yes, America, it does. But, if we keep our hearts and minds stayed on JESUS, HE will handle all. And make no mistake about it; when the layers of a particular onion of trouble are peeled back, the knowledge within will be astounding! (You will be able to throw out the rotten parts found within and reap sweet rewards for withstanding the tears!)

Look at Pharaoh, Hitler, or any number of would-be-dictators that have come through time and what do you see? You see men who have paid the ultimate price because they would not recognize the Sovereignty of GOD and HIS Supreme Power! 

America, as long as we remain a Christian nation and be filled with love, not hate, we will, I say, “We will be okay.” And that’s all I have to say about this particular onion of trouble.

How Have I Been Able to Walk

How have I been able to walk,

Though weary, mile after mile

Easy, I’ve been able to do it

Because I am GOD‘s child

And just as HE has walked and

Continues to walk with me,

HE will walk with you, too.

I've traveled over roads that folks

Could not see how I made it, but now

I can tell the world that I trusted

In GOD and stepped on anyhow.

Even now, sometimes HE does things

That take my breath away

But that’s only because I tend to forget

That I serve the almighty and powerful YAHWEH

And that HE can do things to

Show me and everybody else

That HE is GOD and that HE is

GOD all by HIMSELF!

You see, HE has a way of drying my tears

And eradicating my fears...

Yes, HE’s been my WAY-MAKER

Down through the years

And so, I have learned not to fret

But to turn concerns over to HIM

And HE has never failed me yet!©

Peace

So then let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. (Romans 14:19, NASB)

 

In life, people come and people go

But the GOD of Heaven has always

Taken care of me, I want you to know.

Bosses come and bosses go

But the God of Heaven has always

Taken care of me, I want you to know.

Things happen that fill us with woe

But we have to remember that

Sometimes, the greatest thing to

Happen in our lives comes in a form

That we cannot readily discern

And one thing that I have had to learn

Is that I must trust God through

Whatever changes happen in my life

As I remind myself, “ Alma, God

Knows best don’t you know?!”

What am I saying? I am saying that

I’m not going to allow the happenings

In my life to fill me with woe overlong

Because I know that God expects me

To have faith and be strong

Even when it’s hard for me to do,

So, I go to God’s word and read so that I can

Be encouraged, have peace within myself

And exude peace to my fellowman.©

Going for the Gold

 

"Going for the gold," makes you think of the Olympic games, doesn't it? Yes, it does, but it can also refer to something that is a most highly desired accomplishment with reference to other aspects of life.

"Going for the gold," yep, that brings to mind a definite struggle to attain something that is not easily attained. That might be like having brotherly love exist between races of people. You might be thinking, "Now, lady, you know that is not possible! Ya' think? Well, I think it is possible. Listen to this; just because something has not been generally done does not mean that it cannot be done.

You remember that the Jews had nothing to do with the Samaritans, right? Well, JESUS stopped that when HE asked for a drink of water from one of them. Uhm, hmm. Well, I can see that you did not like that example so let me take you on a different route. Do you remember what Ezekiel was asked in the valley of dry bones?

Ezekiel 37

Son of man can these bones live?"

Y'all know the story of how the bones got to rattling and shaking and moving and lived again. Old dried dead bones!

 

Uhm, hmm, and when we read Romans 4 the latter part of  17, we see something similar for it reads:

Romans 4:17

...even God who gives life to the dead calls into being that which does not exist

And right behind that thought comes the scripture that asks if there is anything too hard for GOD. (Jeremiah 32:27)

 

Somebody said that brotherly

Love was dead in our land

That love between races could not exist

But Jesus said, "Let brotherly love continue"

So can there be love between races,

Yes, there can, even if a thing is dead

Wizened to the core

GOD's power to give life to things dead

Means that life, HE can restore.

We've already established the fact that

With nothing being too hard for HIM,

HE can call into being that which does not exist

So, is there anything too hard for HIM

No, there is not

Now fellowman, what we have to do

Is put back into hearing some words

That some of us forgot

And "Let brotherly love continue..."

So is brotherly love impossible in this land

No, it is not my friend

Because God will do what only God can

And make us mindful of our fellow man.

So, each day as I work

I go for the gold

As I live by faith in the words of God

Which have already been told.

So I walk by faith

As onward I go

With a living message that says

I have love for you, brother

Don’t you know?

And while the love that

I have for you may not be reciprocated

That's okay by me

Because I have a payday

That's already been slated

On the other side of eternity.

Can harmony between races exist, fellowman

The answer is yes because God says it can.©

When I think of the joys that

I have in this land...

For joys great and joys small

I am thankful to GOD for them all

Yes, thankful for the provision

Of my FATHER’s hand

For it is under that provision

That I continue to stand.

 

And so, I say to you

When you’ve done all of the praying

That you can do

And life still threatens

To overwhelm you

Take a prayerful walk along

The Bible's garden path

And allow our FATHER’s peace

To take away the world’s wrath;

You'll be renewed and assured again

That GOD directs your steps

And protects your walk

No matter how men act and

No matter how they may talk

About the things that you should

And should not do or be able to do

All according to their logic

Or according to the things that

They think to be true.

 

Just remember who strengthens you

And WHOSE SPIRIT guides your way

And know and be reminded

That you belong to JESUS
