Because I Know

Because I know that THY ordinances and

THY word is settled in heaven

I can continue my earthly trek

As a child of man.

That infallible knowledge gives

Me courage during any blight that

Might overtake our land

Because I know that by THY

Power, I take my stand

And shall remain unmovable

As long as this earth is

Inhabited by the children of man

For I know that I serve The MASTER

WHO invented "I can"

Yes, FATHER, upon THY precepts

I will continue to stand

Because, merciful FATHER

I know

That it is by the immutability of YOUR precepts

I have the continued stamina to go.©

How Do I Make It

Sometimes life can hit you so hard that you feel

Like you don't have the stamina anymore to go

Because it will sneak in and take

A gift most precious, you know

And you find yourself reeling from the blow

Like a drunken man

Who has been hit with a knockout punch

As your world totters as you reel to and fro.

But I can stand and say

"Take heart, being of clay

The sun will shine again

For you one day

And you will find that you

Have been equipped to help others

Who are reeling because

They, too, have had a gift most precious taken away."©

Psalm 119:89-93 King James Version (KJV)

89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. (It's rock-solid, Y'all and 'ain't going nowhere.'")

90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. (And it still stands...)

91 They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants. (And stands!)

92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. (And because I know...)

93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me. (I can and will continue to go!)

Psalm 119:143 King James Version (KJV)

143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights. (It hurts, but my MAKER's word still stands and I know that HE holds my hand, come what may.)
