I remember the "when"
And I see the "now"
I had bountiful joy then
And I am glad for
Lesson-learned joy now
As before GOD's throne, I bow.
You see, once I walked in
Youthful ignorance, oblivious
Of the manifold blessings
That I took for granted
And now, I have learned appreciation
For all that I, between then and now, panted
And I, like the rest of creation
Thank GOD each day for HIS lovingkindness
In working us out of a dire situation.
Yes, I remember my lesson
Once taught by my Momma so well
To have empathetic love for everyone
Since each race (nation) lives
Under the canopy of humankind
Because we will treat each other according
To what we allow to breed in our minds.
Yes, I am thankful for lessons taught
So that I can grow and enjoy my blessings
Now and afterwhile
For, blessed I am, to be taught
As HIS adopted child.©
