A Mother's Wonderment of It All

To have the joy of expecting a baby has to be one of the greatest joys that a woman can have. During the time that you are carrying your child, you hope that the baby is healthy. And then you think about what his/her contribution to society is going to be. You hope and pray that he will grow up to be God-fearing and a help to mankind.

But

But, to know that you are going to be blessed with a child...and not just any child, but one whose birth was foretold to you by an angel has to have been an occasion for wonderment. I imagine that as a soon-to-be mother, you would spend days pondering over the pronouncement that you had been given.   You might wonder, "Why me?" if nothing else.

Mary

We are told in the book of Luke, verses 26-38 (KJV) that Mary was given such an announcement by the angel Gabriel.  She was puzzled by the announcement and wondered about it, but she accepted it as God's will. How blessed she was among women and what a blessing her Baby proved to be to the world, just as foretold!

Most celebrate the birthday of this gift of God's love, on the 25th day of December, although scholars do not know the exact date of Jesus' birth. I celebrate the occasion of His birthday every day of my life because I am so glad that He came to save a life(s), even mine.

To God be the glory for the things that He has done!
