Christmas Eve

Ah-h, the joyful anticipation of the morrow. There is nothing quite like that anticipation I think. Just waiting for the few hours to end so that that box under the tree that has been holding your thoughts captive since it was placed there can be opened. Sometimes on that night, children take themselves to bed early so that the morning can come sooner. In our home, it was nothing to be aroused from our slumber by our two children who were eager to get under the tree. We made it a habit to video the opening of the presents. The video offered laughter throughout the following year.

There was paper aplenty when all of the presents

Had been unwrapped and there were smiles all around

Because of what had been found.

Can still hear the giggling and laughter and

Exclamations from those days so long ago

And I can just imagine that we will have a greater joy of fulfillment

When we reach that place to which we all want to go.

But just think, we only had to wait for fulfillment for one year

Now, think about the Biblical characters who were laid to rest

With only promises of what was to come, to hold dear.

We have been blessed to be living in the time after His birth

And so, we meet this season with laughter and with mirth

But, think about making it to our home that is being prepared

That promises to be a fulfillment that will be

All that we have been told it is worth

There will be no comparison to the days of

Joy that we have experienced here on Earth!

Therefore, on this Christmas Eve and Sunday, too

Let's prayerfully thank GOD for all that HE has done

And lift our voices in praise to HIM for the

Gift of HIS only Son!

Bow with me for a short prayer of praise and thanksgiving:

By the writing and reading of this poem, LORD, we are saying that we love YOU because YOU loved us first and proved YOUR love by the giving of YOUR Son. We are thankful to be living in the time after the birth, death, and resurrection of that Son. And we lift our humble voices in thanksgiving and praise to YOU, oh GOD for WHO YOU are and what YOU do. To YOU, be the glory for the things that YOU have done! We are proud to be YOUR servants. In YOUR blessed Son, Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
